Role of Some Biologically Important Compounds on the Corrosion .of Mild Steel and Copper in Sodium Chloride Solutions

چکیده
The performance of amino acids and carboxylic acids of biological importance on the corrosion of mild steel and copper in sodium chloridesolutionswas investigated. Manyofthe amino acidsare inhibitive. Aspartic acid, cysteine, cystine, threonine and histidine enhance the corrosion of mild steel. For copper, however, all t he compounds except 4-amino n-butyric acid and hippuric acid, promote corrosion. The specific influence of the benzoyl group in hippuric acid

متن کاملAcetylacetonate Complexes as New Corrosion Inhibitors in Phosphoric Acid Media: Inhibition and Synergism Study
The corrosion inhibition performance of acetylacetonate complexes of zinc(II), manganese(II), cobalt(II) and copper(II) on the mild steel substrate in 1M H3PO4 was studied using DC polarization. It was seen that the mentioned complexes decreased corrosion rate of mild steel in phosphoric acid media due to the adsorption on metal surface. The potential of mild steel shifted toward more active po...

A research on the corrosion inhibition of mild steel pitting corrosion in concrete pore solution by sodium nitrite was carried out by employing potentiodynamic, potentiostatic polarization and zero resistance ammetery (ZRA) techniques. Passivity breakdown potential was decreased from the transpassive potential of 700 mV at the absence of chloride to a value of -50 mV when just 0.01M NaCl was ad...

An ultrafine grain surface layer with average crystallite size of 28 nm was produced on annealed mild steel through a wire brushing process. The effects of grain size reduction on the inhibition performance of sodium phosphate were investigated using polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The crystal grain size of wire brushed surface was analyzed by X-ray d...
